ABOUT THE ROLE:
We’re looking for an experienced Accountant to join our compliance team and help us maintain strong, meaningful client relationships.
This is ideally a full-time (40 hours/week) role, but we’re open to part-time for the right person. We have an awesome office where the vibes and laughs are aplenty, but we can look at accommodating a work-from-home/ hybrid situation too. Whether you’re dreaming of a sea change or you’re based in the Waikato or Bay of Plenty and don’t mind a beach commute, this could be your perfect role for more balance and better living.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Oversee the accurate production of annual accounts and tax returns.
- Review jobs and provide clear, easy-to-understand answers to review queries.
- Present final accounts and advisory insights confidently to clients.
- Build trusted client relationships and assist with a wide range of queries.
- Prepare monthly management reports, cashflow forecasts, financial statements, and income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies.
- Handle GST, PAYE, and FBT returns with ease.
- Train clients on Xero and help them level up their skills.
- Share your technical knowledge generously with the team and mentor junior members.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of our systems, processes, and IP.
ABOUT YOU:
Our ideal candidate:
- Is CA qualified (preferred but not essential) with 2+ years of experience in a New Zealand accounting firm.
- Is fluent in Xero and Xero Workpapers and well-versed in NZ tax legislation
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of compliance requirements, including Companies Act, AML, and IRD reporting standards
- Understands modern business systems and practices.
- Is tech-savvy and comfortable learning new systems (Xero, XPM, Microsoft, FYI).
- Loves building client relationships and is at ease chatting with a diverse range of people.
- Has attention to detail as one of your superpowers.
- Is results-focused with a knack for prioritising and meeting deadlines.
- Communicates clearly and effectively, both in writing and in conversation.
- Brings a great sense of humour, heaps of initiative, resilience, and a passion for helping Kiwi businesses thrive.
