We’re SMYD Accounting / Advisory—a boutique firm based in the heart of Waihi Beach. We’re looking for a Project & Tax Administrator to support our advisory and compliance teams behind the scenes.
This is a perfect role for someone who thrives on detail, enjoys processes, and gets satisfaction from helping others succeed.
About the role
This is a part-time, short-term contract (min 15 hours per week for 3months – with potential to grow) to help us get through some key crunch work. You’ll take ownership of key admin tasks that help keep client work flowing and tax obligations on track, and document processes as you go.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinating internal tax and compliance workflows
- Sending client checklists and reminders
- Lodging returns and managing tax payment comms
- Supporting advisory project setup and reporting
- Updating internal systems and templates, creating process documents as you go
- General admin support across the team
This role is based in our Waihi Beach office, minimum 15hours a week. The ideal would be Mon-Thurs, however days and hours are flexible for the right person.

- Is confident learning and using digital tools (we use Microsoft Office, Teams, Xero, FYI, Ignition, The Gap)
- Loves working behind the scenes to support a team
- Is proactive and takes initiative
- Confident working with deadlines
- (Bonus) Has experience in accounting, admin, or project coordination
